Come and explore the current and past history of design and art at some of the most famous locations in Europe. This trip through Italy will be lead by a designer / artist from the Department of Design who is an experienced world traveler and Travelearn leader. This special group trip begins with the design houses and centers of Milan. We will then travel to Venice, Florence, Assisi, and finally end in Rome. Students / travelers will have the opportunity, through four guided tours and eight special attraction visits, to see original master works in the areas of art, design, and architecture from the Renaissance, and earlier, through the twentieth century. We will also visit current artists, designers and craftspeople in their studios, seeing the master works of tomorrow being created.

Prior to departure, there will be a meeting to prepare travelers with foundation and historical information that will make the trip a more educational, pleasurable, and enriching experience. In addition, there will be required seminars for those taking the trip for course credit to begin the academic preparation. Students seeking academic credit will register for either DSN 4007 or GE 2023 as part of their Spring 2009 courseload.
