Spend spring break in Rome, Florence, Paris and London, immersing yourself in European culture while learning how the American press was shaped centuries ago by then revolutionary ideas of news free of government control. The trip includes visits to some of the most famous museums and historic sites in Europe: the Roman Colosseum, Sistine Chapel, Accademia, Notre Dame, Arc de Triumph, Musee d’Orsay, Versailles, Parliament, Buckingham Palace. Students will also visit international news organizations to learn first-hand the challenges facing these operations and how they are responding to the sweeping changes brought on by technology and social forces. Participants are welcome to come without registering for academic credit. Students wishing to take the trip for credit are required to have completed COMM 1402 or have the permission of the instructor.
